Indian Robusta coffee is a bold, high-caffeine coffee grown mainly in the Western Ghats (especially Karnataka and Kerala). It’s valued for strong body, crema, and intensity, making it a staple for espresso blends, milk-based drinks, and vending applications.
Common cup profile (typical, not universal):
- Aroma: dark chocolate, roasted nuts, spice, earthy notes
- Flavour: cocoa, molasses/jaggery, peanut/almond, woody/earthy tones
- Bitterness: higher than Arabica (but can be clean when well-processed)
- Acidity: low to medium
- Body: heavy, syrupy
- Finish: long, cocoa-bitter, sometimes spicy
